Christmas Eve
Today is Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve is one of my favorite times of the year. I light all of the Christmas lights in the house and listen to Christmas music all day long. Everytime I walk by the packages under the tree I wonder what wonderful things might be waiting for us to discover the next day. I also enjoy making our Christmas lunch. I usually have things that my grandmother cooked when I was a little girl, cornbread dressing and gravy, canned cranberry sauce (is there any other kind?), and a cherry fluffy dessert. Some of the things that David enjoys is squash casserole and ham. We both think that turkey is dry, so we usually do not include that on our menu. The ham I am preparing has a bourbon glaze. I got the recipe off of Southern Living. They always have great holiday ideas. This year Stephanie is bringing a rum cake. I cannot wait to taste it. She usually uses a recipe from Bell's Best Cookbook, which is a Mississippi native staple. The cookbook is loaded with good, Southern cookin' and time tested menus.
Judy arrived late last night so today Megan and Will get to play with her. They played play dough for 45 minutes. Megan showed Gigi all of her Fancy Nancy doll clothes and of course they baked gingerbread men. Stephanie got in from Tampa about 3:00 pm. She had stopped in Savannah to eat at Lady and Sons'. When she got here the kids had to show her all of their things so that was more chaos. We did make it to Bible Study after all of the running around the house and craziness. Unfortunately, during the middle of Bible class Megan comes into the auditorium. She is crying and saying that her ear hurts. I think that she is getting her six-year molars. We have to leave soon after to come home and give her some Tylenol. She went to sleep rather quickly when the pain went away. I hope that Christmas day will be a good day for her and not let he be in any pain.
I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! May you enjoy being with your family and friends at this special time of the year.
