Picture Postcard Snow

I am so excited! Orangeburg actually got a real snow fall. Real snow! Can you believe it? I really cannot. The snow started coming down around 2:30 on Friday afternoon and lasted until sometime Saturday morning (I don't know when it ended, I was asleep). This is the first real snow that both children have seen. Actually this is one of the first real snows David and I have seen. We live in the South, what can I say? Usually Orangeburg has snow flurries, but nothing seems to stick to the ground. Both Megan and Will were excited to see their first snowfall. During their rest time, Will actually fell asleep facing his window, watching the snow drift down. Megan said that she kept going to her windows and looking out to see how much snow was on the trees and ground.

When it first started snowing Megan, Will and I went outside to play and catch snowflakes on our tongues. It was fun trying to catch the snow. Later Friday evening the snow started to really come down. David took the children out for more snow adventures. They now could ball up enough snow to have a snowball fight. Will was a little concerned though. He didn't realize that snow was wet and the snow got all over his mittens, pants, shoes and socks. He had to come in the house a little early because his shoes were wet.
Here is a view of the snow from the back window of our house. The garden looks like it could be from a picture postcard, not the unsightly heap of overgrown weeds that currently resides there.
Saturday morning we woke up to a white world. Everything was covered with snow! After breakfast the whole family went outside to build snowmen and play in the snow.
Here is Megan and Will playing in the far back of our yard. The snow lasted the longest here because of the shade trees. I think that we build at least three snowmen here with one or two snow angels.
Here is Will trying his hand at a snow angel. He did pretty well.
Below, Megan is making a snowman for David's Valentine's gift. He is pretty cute! Megan did figure out that if you roll a big ball of snow and put it on my back then I look like I have a bunny tail. Sorry, didn't get a picture of that!
We spent the whole morning outside. By the time the children came in, they were wet from their coats to their shoes. We had to have a complete wardrobe change. I hope that you had a great snow day too!
