Will's First Fishing Trip

Megan has been talking about going fishing with Poppaw and Uncle Paul. Will decided, before we left Orangeburg, that he wanted to go fishing too. He figured out what type of fishing rod that he wanted, a Lighting McQueen fishing rod that we found at Wal-Mart. This morning we picked out the rod and after nap time we drove over to Uncle Paul's house. We all went down to my Uncle Rayford's pond. Uncle Rayford passed away many years ago, but I still refer to the pond as his. Paul showed Megan and Will how to put worms on the fishing hooks. Megan pretty much screamed like a girl and refused to touch them. Will was just fascinated.
Paul cast off for both children. Within five minutes, Will caught his first fish. He was so excited. Actually, the first fish fell off of the hook when Paul tried to reel it in. We think that he went back for the new worm and Will got him. He was about 4 to 5 inches long and we threw him back. Maybe he will grow bigger for the next fishing trip.
At the end of the trip, the total fish caught was: Will 2, Megan 3 (2 fish and me), Allison 1 and you could say that Paul got 4 since he helped Megan and Will reel in the fish. All the fish were too small to keep, so they were put back into the pond.
